What is Smartfootball?

The smartfootball methodology is based on problem solving, with the aim of enhancing players’ creativity and strategic intelligence, while improving their game awareness. It is a learning model that focuses on brain enrichment, aimed at developing more intelligent and creative players. The founders of smartfootball have many years’ experience at the highest level of the game, both domestically and internationally, and have worked with some of the leading coaches in world football.

How Does it Develop Players?

Smartfootball is based on challenging the players’ thinking, making them more aware of their role in the team. The methodology helps the player develop strategies and understanding within the context of the game. The result is a more intelligent player who is tactically astute, and is constantly improving their awareness and positional sense, both with and without the ball. Their reaction to transitions becomes more efficient, while their composure and ability to make time for themselves improves. This is all achieved through setting challenges, as well as classroom-based sessions, which work in harmony to develop the football brain.

Smartfootball Academy

*INCLUDING TOUR TO SPAIN*

Our unique smartfootball academy is for players aged U7+ and focuses on both the practical and theory elements of the smartfootball methodology. There is a trial/invitation process for players to join the academy, with a maximum of 16 players per age group.

From season 2019/20 the Academy will include a 5-day tour to our partners in Spain where our players will represent Go4Goal and England in select matches against top Catalan Academy sides. One player from each age group will also be invited to train with the International Technifutbol Academy throughout the tour.

The academy consists of weekly 1.5 hour smartfootball masterclass coaching sessions, with classroom sessions being held once every 5 weeks (players will wear their tracksuit for this session). Players will receive a Go4Goal Academy exercise book which they will use for classroom sessions throughout the season. Classroom session will cover a range of topics, including triangulation, systems of play and mental skills.

Players will receive a full smartfootball Academy kit, including playing kit for their Spain tour.

Following their tour, players will take part in an End of Season Tournament against other smartfootball Academies.

Smartfootball School

The smartfootball School is for players aged 5 – 12. Younger players will join Group 1 where they will learn basic skills and start to familiarize themselves with the ball. Players will focus on agility, balance and coordination (ABCs).

From here, we begin to introduce more advanced and age-appropriate training drills to continue our players’ development. The Smartfootball methodology is incorporated into every 90-minute session. This style of coaching not only teaches players technically but also helps them to think & grow their understanding of the game.

Our smartfootball School runs at the Goals Soccer Centre in Tolworth:

Saturdays

Session 1: 9:00 – 10:30 AM

Session 2: 10:30 – 12:00 PM

Smartfootball Curriculum

We work with a number of grassroots clubs implementing smartfootball methodologies throughout their squads, most notably Leatherhead Youth FC where the club has contracted us to work with their mini section using the smartfootball methodology; the impact has been very encouraging with managers, parents & players all commenting very positively about the sessions & the rapid development of the players, which in turn has given the club an playing identity which is quite apparent.
